So, it’s a no-brainer that I love yaoi. It’s gotten to the point where I have to make it clear to those around me that I DON’T JUST READ YAOI manga all the time…only most of it. What my love for yaoi does mean is that I do have a lot of different ships—many of them being non-canon. Now, these ships are mostly in video games since the ones I have in the anime/manga I watch/read are usually canon, so I do apologize if the ships in this list are mainly within video games.
1- Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth (The Ace Attorney Franchise)
It’s not news to anyone that my favorite game franchise of all time is the Ace Attorney series. In fact, I am excited for the release of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. With that being said, I absolutely love the Edgeworth x Wright Ship. They are absolutely adorable as friends but, of course, there are moments where you just wish there was more. I’m guessing the writers of Ace Attorney did that on purpose since their…closeness is based on yaoi/fanfics they found online (of which I am absolutely grateful for since I love this ship so much). I want to see more of their relationship and I love the idea of Trucy having a close relationship with Miles, like a co-parent would. If this does turn out to be canon within the actual games, I will absolutely be on cloud nine.
2- Apollo Justice and Klavier Gavin (The Ace Attorney Franchise)
Continuing with the Ace Attorney series, my next favorite non-canon ship in this list is Apollo Justice and Klavier Gavin. I absolutely love couples where one person gets so easily flustered/has a huge reaction while the other partner is just enjoying teasing the hell out of them. The dynamic between these two is absolutely adorable. Everytime I play as Apollo, I desperately hope for Klavier to pop out because I know at one point, there will be a lot of teasing from him. If there will be new games with Apollo in the future, I pray that Klavier will be included there somehow.
3- Hatori and Shigure (Fruits Basket)
Before I start this, please note that this is a post about NON-CANON ships. Now, with that out of the way, the next ship on our list is Shigure and Hatori. I always love goofy characters with very serious ones. Hatori has so much patience to be friends with Shigure. No matter how much BS Shigure pulls, Hatori somehow pulls through with it—of course, with a sigh of seriously, again? But we all know Hatori loves Shigure to a certain degree. It’s actually endearing to see their dynamic.
4- Raizel and Han Shinwoo (Noblesse)
Following more or less the same idea as the previous one on the list, we have Raizel and Shinwoo from Noblesse. I don’t know what it is about seeing one goofy character and a serious character together. It makes me hope that they get REALLY close. I love how cute their dynamic is both in the webtoon and in the anime. I love Shinwoo’s huge reactions whenever Rai does the simplest yet most adorable actions. It’s really cute (I’m sorry. I’m having a fangirl overload moment right now).
5- Sora and Riku (Kingdom Hearts)
Now, I DEFINITELY couldn’t create this list without mentioning Sora and Riku from Kingdom Hearts. Ever since I played the first game, I shipped them so hard. They have such a close friendship and they would do anything for each other. I remember screaming when I saw how Sora awkwardly hugged Kairi back after they reunited but then he fell on his knees and cried for Riku. They have such a nice dynamic where Riku is the cool and mysterious dude whereas Sora is the energetic, open-book kind of character. Their opposite personalities work so well and I love seeing their endless teasings.
And with that, I will sign off here. Thank you all for reading this post! I hope you all enjoyed it. What are your favorite non-canon ships? I’d love to know! That’s all for today! Until next time, keep your paws and bowls of ramen up, everyone! Nya! 🐾
