Nowadays, there is a lot of representation of the LGBTQ+ community. And I am enjoying every single second of it. One of my favorite series that had this was The Legend of Korra with Korra and Asami. There is one pairing in the ATLA series, however, that calls out to me more, which is Kyoshi and Rangi. Now, I know that I have made quite a few posts like this before…I just have a lot of pairings that I love so please bear with me.

In one of the visual novels—The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars, it is stated: “Even Avatar Kyoshi – who by all accounts loved men and women – was unable to effect any kind of real progress. After all, the Earth Kingdom has been the slowest to accept change and the most militaristically repressive” (information taken from: comicbook.com). The relationship between Kyoshi and Rangi can be seen in Rising of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi—both novels by F.C. Yee that are also canon within the Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

What I love the most about this pairing is how they support each other and how you see their relationship grow as time progresses. They have known each other for years—Kyoshi being one of the servants for the “avatar” (fake avatar) while Rangi was raised to be one of the soldiers who would fight to protect the avatar at all costs. Even after running away from the temple when it was revealed that Kyoshi is the real avatar, Rangi never left her side. She might not have agreed with Kyoshi’s life choices and tactics, but they were practically together through and through. I absolutely love this pairing so much and I just wish I could see it animated—but hey, at least we were able to get this pairing somehow.

That’s it for today. Thank you all for reading. I hope you all enjoyed it. Until next time, keep your paws and bowls of ramen up, everyone! Nya! 🐾
