Update

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are doing well. It’s already the beginning of March of 2022… jeez I didn’t think time would pass this fast, but here we are. So many things have happened since the last time that I posted on here so I decided to do a quick update.

Moving to mainland US

I shared on Twitter back in January that I was moving to mainland US from Puerto Rico. To be honest, the change was enormous. Getting used to the time zones, the change in atmosphere and having to go from speaking in Spanish 24/7 to English 24/7 was kind of overwhelming to say the least. A week after moving to mainland US, my brother, his fiance, and I moved into a bigger apartment. It has been really hectic and tiring. I’m getting exhausted just remembering how everything went. But it’s been over a month since we moved into the new apartment and everything has been quite nice. I finally got my room organized (slowly making it as fangirl-y as I possibly can) and I finally got my streaming/ voice acting set-up out. I’m really excited about what the future holds. It’s still a little slow since I’m trying to look for a job that will be able to pay the bills, but I have high hopes for the future.

Job Search

Speaking of job search, that’s the next thing I’m going to talk about. Even before my move to the US, I have been job hunting. I’m not gonna lie, I thought that I would’ve found one by now. In fact, I was absolutely optimistic that I would. Even though it’s been over one month since I moved, I’m still trying my best to find a job. I’m stressing out so much that it’s gotten to the point where I’ve even forgotten to take breaks. I am still working for the same two language schools that I’ve been working for; however, I do know that what I’m currently earning won’t be enough for here. I’ve been mainly applying to online teaching and administrative jobs. I might look into writing and social media jobs as well.

Streaming

Lately, I have been streaming as consistently as I can. I would normally post the schedule for the week and try my best to follow it. Recently, it’s getting harder since one of the schools that I work for has been adding more students while I’m also trying to fit voice acting on the side. What inspired me to start streaming on a more consistent basis was V-Tubers. You’ve probably seen by my twitter feed that I’ve lately fallen down the rabbit hole that is V-Tubers, namely Nijisanji. Watching them stream is really relaxing and it’s got me hoping that someday I can become one too (maybe not working for Nijisanji, but at least as an indie V-Tuber). My full-on dream is to make people smile with what I do and at least make them feel like they’re not alone in the world. To be honest, V-Tubers in general have helped me with that feeling a lot and I really want to be able to do that someday. Of course, I’m not going to give up writing and voice acting, since they’ve become my passion.

Time is Precious

One thing that I’ve learned since moving here is the fact that time is a valuable jewel. What you do with that time is what makes you. I spend a lot of my time on my desk, normally binging on YouTube while trying to plan out my lessons for the week as well as what games I would like to stream for that week. I tend to focus more on the work aspect instead of focusing on other things that matter like cooking, self care, reading, etc. I do tend to hyperfocus a lot when it comes to work. But I know that there are times where we have to step back and breathe in some fresh air. Actually, as I’m typing this, I’m on the balcony of my apartment at night. I literally just re-scheduled tomorrow’s (it’s Tuesday by the time I’m writing this) Dark Deception stream because I realized that I’ve been staying in my room for over a month while typing this out. So I’ll take time tomorrow before I need to give a lesson to just walk out and breathe in some fresh air.
