Persona- Drama Review

Persona (the show) is an anthology series released on Netflix on April 11, 2019. The first collection, so far, has a total of four episodes. In each episode, k-pop singer IU plays as the protagonist. Also, all four episodes were created by four different directors (one per episode).

Since the series was created by four different directors, four different stories were told. It’s intriguing especially since they utilize 4 distinct subgenres. The one that still is burned into my mind is the second episode since that has more of a shock factor than the others. By this, I mean that they used special effects to their advantage when making the episode. And they also used a bit of sensory response mechanisms. I still have goosebumps from it (Please know that if you’re faint of heart, I don’t recommend watching that specific episode).

The first episode was rather anticlimactic in my opinion, and the third one was more ironic (and a bit uncomfortable at first), but what really got me emotional was the fourth episode. Especially since you actually feel a connection between the couple in contrast to the previous episodes. If you don’t like melodrama or series where the episodes have no connection to one another story-wise, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re interested, go ahead. It’s really artistic and interesting.

With that being said, I give Persona 3 paws out of 5 🐾🐾🐾.It is really artistic and the concept of a drama having episodes that don’t relate to one another is absolutely refreshing in my opinion- however, as I have said previously, some people probably don’t like that since they watch series for the story. Anyways, that’s the first drama review in months (or maybe even a year). I hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time, keep your paws and bowls of ramen up, everyone! Nya! 🐾
