Professionsalism VS Real Me

Hey guys, this post will be another one where I speak as the person behind “The Kitten Who Eats Ramen” so this won’t be like my normal reviews or any of the content you guys are used to. The other day, I was messaging a friend of mine and we were fangirling about certain anime and games we’ve found during winter break.

At one point, we started to talk about Violet Evergarden and I told her that I didn’t want to do a review on it since I felt like I got too emotionally attached to it to the point where I wasn’t able to look at it from a critical angle. I was afraid that the article would seem too biased and emotionally driven rather than it being at a professional standpoint.

After I told her my reasons for this, she asked: “why are you so professional in your posts?” I can understand why she would ask this since, in real life, I’m anything but professional. I fangirl about basically anything and have a tendency to scream so loud, that it can be heard from about a mile away (I’m not exaggerating by the way) despite me being shy as heck around other people. I told her that it was because I want to be a writer whether it be me writing books or writing posts on here.

However, that got me thinking if I should be more “myself” rather than Ryder -the persona that is The Kitten Who Eats Ramen. The reason as to why it got me thinking is because I sometimes do feel like a robot when writing these articles because I’m worried about not being “professional enough” for you guys, but in doing so, it makes writing reviews and such a lot more difficult since I have to try and control the huge fangirl in me by a lot. This takes a huge toll on me at times since I am a very emotionally driven person and finding series where I don’t get too emotionally attached is very difficult which makes writing reviews for a single series even harder.

So, I would like to know what you guys think. Do you think I should keep being as professional as I am currently with the reviews or do you think I should tone it down to be more of a mix between me and my online persona? I would love to hear what you all think.

Until then, keep your paws and bowls of ramen up, everyone! 🐾

  1. I think it depends on your intention and probably appropriateness of your posts. Some shows, you might want to excessively fangirl over them and let out all your emotions and attachments towards them, showing the world how much you unconditionally love them. Some shows you might want to be more objective and analytical. Finding the balance of the two is of course the ideal option, making your fangirl tendency an added personality instead of an emotional outburst. I, for one tend to be more subjective than objective. But hey, that’s just my two cents haha.
