Pride Month: My First Yaoi (ever)

Yaoi is a popular genre within the anime and manga industry. No matter where you go, there will be at least one person (if it’s not you) that is reading/watching a yaoi manga/anime. It wasn’t long before they even started to make BL dramas in any Asian language (I see it more in Japanese and Thai dramas though.)

I actually didn’t read anything BL or even GL until I was around 14 or 15 when someone I knew sent me an image from an adult BL. At the time, I was very innocent so I would blush way too easily with literally anything that involved any level of intimacy (which would include hugging and holding hands.) They sent me a specific uncensored scene from that manga that made me nearly die from how much I was blushing. I actually slammed my old laptop shut when I realized what it was. What’s ironic about this is that I ended up looking the manga up and read it completely—and I still re-read it to this day since it’s one of my favorite yaoi manga ever.

The manga was Sex Therapist which was released in 2006 by Kodaka Kazuma. It’s funny how this became my first yaoi instead of Junjou Romantica or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, but I’m happy that it was. For me, the art style of it is absolutely beautiful and the fact that it’s uncensored makes it even better. Now, I don’t recommend you read this if you’re not 15 or older because of the details. The chapters are both one-shots (since Kain has different clients) but there’s a story being told since you can see a slight relationship with Kain and the shopkeeper. I do wish the author would’ve written an extra chapter with Kain and the shopkeeper though. You could definitely tell that there was chemistry between the two. I even started to write a fanfic about them in my notebook. I never really finished it though. I’ll see if I can work on that later on.

That’s it for today. I hope you all enjoyed it. What’s your first yaoi (anime and/or manga)?I’d really love to know. Thank you for reading. Until next time, keep your paws and bowl of ramen up, everyone! Nya! 🐾
